If there is anything more difficult than facing a major life change, it is helping your child navigate a major life change. Pediatric limb loss, whether due to congenital issues, infection, illness, or trauma, is, without a doubt, one of the most challenging situations with which one can be confronted. At the same time, there is encouraging news: with the right pediatric prosthetic devices, children can lead healthy, full, active lives.
Orthopedic Appliance Company is committed to serving those with experiencing limb loss and other orthopedic needs. We specialize in pediatric prosthetics, helping children in our Western North Carolina community adjust, adapt, and thrive. There is a special place in our practice - and our team members’ hearts - for kids.
We have extensive experience with children who are born with missing or partial limbs, children who lose limbs through injury or amputation, and those who suffer serious illnesses and require amputation. Each child has unique needs, and we are dedicated to meeting the requirements of each. With the rapid rate of physical growth, children often require more frequent adjustments and new devices: we are here to facilitate that process and make it as smooth and streamlined as possible.
In general, children from birth to 18 years of age need a new socket and prosthetic modification at least once a year. As your child is evaluated by their clinician, we will accommodate for changes and ensure their prosthetic device is suitable for their stage of growth.
The Orthopedic Appliance Company team is among the most experienced in Western North Carolina and the surrounding region. We have been providing custom-made orthopedic devices and prosthetics since 1960 while integrating the latest technology and advancements to better serve our customers.
