Why Orthopedic Appliance Company is Proudly Based in Asheville

Established in 1960, Orthopedic Appliance Company has provided custom orthopedic bracing and artificial limbs to the people of Western North Carolina for nearly sixty years. We have seen a lot of change and growth in the Asheville area. As great people continue to discover the foothills and mountains, we will utilize our blog to continue to be a resource for people searching for prosthetics, orthopedic bracing, and rehabilitation equipment.

However, with our first article, we will discuss five quick reasons we are proud to serve Asheville, Hickory, and western North Carolina.

1) Asheville Has Incomparable Beauty

The highest city of its size east of the Mississippi River, Asheville’s downtown skyline is surrounded by picturesque mile-high mountain peaks. Several rivers and creeks snake through the city, with hundreds of waterfalls within an hour of downtown. Residents and visitors enjoy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, where drivers are treated to panoramic views and stunning vistas. Few cities this large can boast of such beautiful scenery.

2) Asheville Has Infinite Recreation Opportunities

There are not enough weekends in a lifetime to enjoy all of the recreation opportunities Asheville offers residents and visitors:

  • Thousands of miles of hiking trails
  • Hundreds of miles of mountain biking
  • Lake and river watersports
  • Zipline canopy tours
  • Rock climbing

Orthopedic Appliance Company is proud to help people through the rehabilitation process. We offer a wide range of products to help our clients enjoy all of the recreational opportunities Asheville has to offer. 3) Asheville Has Great Cultural Amenities

From world-class food and art to an incredible music scene, Asheville has the cultural amenities of its larger southern neighbors Charlotte and Raleigh, with less traffic and superior natural beauty. Asheville’s River Arts District attracts numerous tourist every year, while many people travel to western North Carolina for restaurants, microbreweries, and downtown shopping.

4) Asheville Has Excellent Weather

Western North Carolina experiences all four seasons; however, Asheville and the surrounding mountains rarely exceed 95-degrees during summer. In lower elevation cities like Morganton and Hickory, you can escape the heat by driving a few miles to Table Rock, or Mount Pisgah.

In contrast, Asheville's winters are not nearly as harsh as other high-elevation cities in the Appalachians. Spring and Autumn offer marvelous displays of color, attracting millions of tourists each year.

5) Asheville Has Incredible People

Western North Carolina residents are amazing people. Orthopedic Appliance Company is proud to serve Asheville, Waynesville, Brevard, Hickory, Morganton and all of the towns and communities throughout the foothills and mountains. For more information about our products, contact us.
