Born without a right leg, it was apparent from day one that nothing was going to stop me. I’ve always needed a prosthesis that could keep up with me, not limit me. But convincing insurance companies has been my biggest challenge. Just getting by isn’t good enough. Being an example – now that’s important to me. It’s what I’ve always tried to be. Access to quality prosthetic care for people with limb loss and limb difference is essential to life. Speak up for yourself. Speak out for others. No is not an answer. - Sean Donnelly
The Amputee Coalition Sponsors Limb Loss Awareness Month

Messages to Share
They’ve created a calendar with a message or activity for every day in April. The purpose is to educate and celebrate, sharing the realities of living with limb difference and limb loss. For many people, their experience may begin and end with a Paralympic athlete’s story or a traumatic local news story. But life is much more than that and your story is richer and more interesting than a 3 minute news bite.
Sharing your story, whether it is with a friend, a community group, a legislator or your insurer, can help provide insight and shape perceptions – and empower you, too!
